This is the second instalment of a new series on creative writing of recent origin in Tamil. This series on Gautama Buddha was inspired by two inputs in MinTamil earlier and the piece on Lalgudi Buddha is the trigger for this input.

‘ஆசிய ஜோதி’யின் ஆசிரியர்கள்: ஒரு அறிமுகம்.
சாக்கிய முனி என்றும், புத்தர் பிரான் என்றும், ெகளதம புத்தர் என்றும் வணங்கப்படும் அவதாரபுருஷனின் இயற்ெபயர் சித்தார்த்தன்; அவரொரு ராஜகுமாரன். யாவற்ைறயும் துறந்த அந்த முனிபுங்கவரின் சரிதம் தான் ‘ஆசிய ஜோதி’. Sir Edwin Arnold, who authored ‘The Light of Asia’, an immortal and ecstasic epic poem, was a great personage, who came to India as a Sanskrit professor. More about his versatile character, later. That epic was traslated, nay! transcreated, in Tamil by கவிமணி தேசிகவிநாயகம் பிள்ைள: ஆசிய ஜோதி. அதைத்தான் இந்த தொடரில் பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறேன்.
